Troopers say Ricky Baker of Vanceboro was driving on the northbound lane of Highway 17 when he crossed the centerline and struck a utility pole.
A witness told troopers that after Baker wrecked he was seen throwing beer cans out of his vehicle. He then crawled out of the passenger side of his vehicle.
Troopers say alcohol was involved. Baker was transported to the hospital.
Meanwhile Ipock's Parts and Service tow truck company was called out to the scene. Troopers say the tow truck driver, Joey Ipock, loaded and connected the vehicle involved in the wreck onto his truck.
