College football uniform overload is the now the norm
Oklahoma State is following Oregon's lead.
Except without the bright greens and yellows.
The Cowboys are breaking out new uniforms for the upcoming football season.
Coming off a school-record 11 wins and a share of the Big 12 South title, the Cowboys unveiled a new line of Nike uniforms that feature 48 different combinations of helmets, jerseys and pants.
So if you're keeping count, it will take about four seasons to get through every color combination.
They still have a ways to go if they want to catch up to Oregon's 384 combinations.
Just a couple seasons ago, college football fans would roll their eyes when Oregon rolled out new threads every week. But the Ducks have now joined college sports' short line of trendsetters. Remember when Michigan's Fab Five changed how basketball players dressed? Baggy shorts and black socks were in.
OSU will have helmets in white, matte black and anthracite -- a shade of dark gray. The jerseys and pants will come in those three colors and orange.

Arizona State ditched Sparky (its longtime helmet logo) for series of combos that include all-black uniforms, introduced by Nike.
In fact, USC, UCLA and Stanford are the only remaining Pac-12 teams sticking with two standard combos for home and road games.
Could you imagine Nebraska rolling out black or anthracite jerseys and helmets? Unthinkable, right? Just hope Nike doesn't get ahold of the scarlet and cream.
