The Learning Coach - previously Trainer1 – an independent ‘training and advisory' company, offers services designed to build capability and improve performance in the design and development of effective learning.

The Capability Matrix is a comprehensive and progressive programme of seminars and workshops that enable learning professionals design and build their own learning solutions.

The programme already covers instructional design, assessments and media and provides the knowledge, skills and the ability to transform theory into practice efficiently and effectively. The programme has now been enhanced with the inclusion of two new modules – Learning Screen Design and More than an Authoring Tool.

Speaking about the new courses, Managing Partner, Neil Lasher says, “With the increased adoption and use of authoring tools we are seeing a resurgence of a technology led dependency where learning is being designed by the functionality and features of the technology. Recognising this, we at The Learning Coach, believe there is a need for the learning community to re-orient the emphasis of solid learning design using technology, rather than the other way round!”

Neil Lasher himself will deliver the first Learning Screen design course on The 9th September and Suzy Cooper, also a partner at The Learning Coach, will run the first More than an Authoring Tool (for Lectora) on the 23rd August.

-Provide technical instruction, support, and assistance to students, faculty, and others concerning the distance education program course management system and a variety of other types of information resources. E

-Configure, manage, implement, and maintain the course management system, including the upgrade and maintenance of users, accounts, and permissions, as well as processes and procedures. E

-Proctor a variety of academic exams that are required for the successful completion of distance education courses. E

-Conduct orientation sessions for distance education students, including one-to-one and group sessions; serve as an assistant to faculty in large group orientations in classroom and lab settings. E

-Collaborate with District staff to ensure effective implementation of distance education and other technology-oriented initiatives and programs. E

-Update and maintain source documents for web based resources relative to the college website and the distance education program. E

-Answer in person and telephone inquiries from students, the public, faculty, administration, and other employees regarding classes and other technical inquiries related to the distance education program. E

-Perform minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance on equipment such as computers, peripheral equipment, and audio-visual equipment; diagnose equipment malfunctions; and process requests for major repairs. E

-Assist in the development and implementation of distance education resources including help desk support and online tutorials and resources. E

-Assist the assistant dean or assigned supervisor in creating new course modules within the course management system. E

-Monitor developments in the field of instructional design and technology to remain current on effective strategies and practices; communicate developments to faculty and staff. E

-Perform a variety of clerical functions related to the distance education program including typing of correspondence, requisition, flyers, etc. E

-Perform related duties as assigned. Any combination equivalent to:

Education: Completion of two years of college level course work in Education, Instructional Technology, or Information Technology. A bachelor's degree in Education or Instructional Technology can substitute for the two years of required experience.
