Safety Products Donated to Habitat for Humanity by Bethel-Based Corporation
While doing the inventory for his employer Elvex Corporation in Bethel, Operations Manager Leslie Hegedus stumbled on some boxes of safety glasses and earplugs. Knowing that these products may be useful to a Habitat for Humanity construction site, it has received approval from his company and they have generously donated to Habitat for Humanity Housatonic.
"When Leslie Stephen and his son came down and more than 2,000 pairs of safety glasses and hundreds of earplugs for us, we were pleasantly surprised," said Mary Ali, executive director of Habitat for humanity Housatonic."Many people have noticed that we moved into our new location on Route 7 and have that visibility has really helped a lot."
At 51 Sugar Hollow Road on the line of Danbury / Ridgefield, Housatonic Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to mobilize the local community to provide opportunities for homeownership to low-load income.
Habitat also maintains a home building supply store called savings ReStore located at 51 Austin Street in Danbury.Open to the public, restore recycle what is new, used and old donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. Proceeds from ReStore sales go directly to financing the construction of new and affordable housing for families in need.
