This year the street party will be held on Fairbanks Road between Wedgewood Drive and Valley Forge Road from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2.

Fairbanks will shut down at noon to begin set up. This year Madison Park has lined up a variety of entertainers: Holly Harper & Band, Morristowne Brass Band, McCrorey YMCA Senior African Drummers, Yasmine's Magic Hip Dancers, and the Albemarle Road Sky Hy Marching Drill Team.

Amusements are being booked from Your Event Source YES and Rent@MeUSA. The neighborhood will include some water attractions again this year so plan to get wet. The stage area will be near Wedgewood Drive and Fairbanks Road.

Most food items will be free along with all amusements. Madison Park thanks its sponsors including Target, Showmars, Autobell, Liberty Mutual, Toppers Pizza and Western Southern Life.

Hidden Valley neighborhood expects around 1,000 people at National Night Out.

The celebration will consist of a winner feast, with all the trimmings. There will be plenty of food and drinks, music, fun and games. The park and recreation department, Hidden Valley Optimist Club, fire department, police department, local library, the Hidden Valley School principals, and some local businesses will come together for the event.

There also will be a raffle held about every 30 minutes for prizes. This year the grand prize is a 32-inch flat screen TV.

Hidden Valley is a diverse neighborhood with a growing youth population. For the past seven years, the community has had one of the largest events in Charlotte for National Night Out.

The Hidden Valley Community Association meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Martin Luther King Middle School, 500 Bilmark Ave, Charlotte.
