Noble Living Health Coaching: Microwave cooking, is it safe?

"Microwave cooking can be more energy efficient than conventional cooking because foods cook faster and the energy heats only the food, not the whole oven compartment. Microwave cooking does not reduce the nutritional value of foods any more than conventional cooking. In fact, foods cooked in a microwave oven may keep more of their vitamins and minerals, because microwave ovens can cook more quickly and without adding water." A Federal standard limits the amount of microwaves that can leak from an oven throughout its lifetime to 5 milliwatts (mW) of microwave radiation per square centimeter at approximately 2 inches from the oven surface. This limit is far below the level known to harm people.The standard also requires all ovens to have two independent interlock systems that stop the production of microwaves the moment the latch is released or the door opened. In addition, a monitoring system stops oven operation in case one or both of the interlock systems fail" Microwaves used for cooking, are electromagnetic waves possessing frequencies around the 2.45 GHz range. Electromagnetic waves are waves made up of alternating electric and magnetic fields. We’re more concerned with the alternating electric fields because charged particles readily react when exposed to them.  That is, when a positively charged particle is exposed to an electric field, it experiences a force (due to the field) pointing in the direction of the field. To compare, when a negatively charged particle is exposed to the same field, it experiences  force in the direction opposite to the field, Now, since an electromagnetic wave (like the microwave) is made up of alternating electric fields, a charge exposed to it will experience forces regularly changing in direction. For water molecules the net effect would force the molecules into rotation. Again, since the fields are alternating, the rotation will change from clockwise to counterclockwise at regular time intervals causing kinetic energy, heat.   Microwaves actually change the chemical structure of food, the microwaves heat food by raising the frequencies of the water molecules which eventually turn to steam.  This can be very dangerous not only for your nutritional health but physical as well.  Microwaves cook unevenly and can cause steam explosions. Have you ever heated a cup of water only to take it out and it just explodes in your hand burning you?
